Welcome to the afdec website! afdec is the Association of Franchised Distributors of Electronic Components, a UK trade association. This website aims to provide something for all those who have a professional interest in the workings of the electronic component supply chain whether or not they are members of afdec. Distributors themselves will find a number of services supplied by afdec to members, such as bad debt control, provision of training materials, supportive documents such as the annual forecast, and access to UK and international market statistics (which are password-controlled). Organisations interested in accessing these statistics should contact the secretariat to discuss joining afdec. The annual forecast is also available for purchase by non-members. A special statistical service is available for City analysts: contact the secretariat. afdec
provides marketing tools in the
form of software or research reports to members at discounted prices.
Component users can search
the afdec database to find information including stockists of a product range, the
distributors who are franchised by a given component manufacturer, or
the linecard carried by a favoured distributor. You can check how our
initiatives on RoHS are progressing, and see a number of presentations
on the subject. Component manufacturers are
offered a service to find new
distributors in the UK. Alternatively, component manufacturers may
join afdec as "sustaining members", and thereby receive all
membership benefits such as monthly statistics
and the annual forecast,
2008 available now.
Graduates seeking job opportunities
within the industry are directed to the STEP resource, but will find
much here to help them refine their interests within the electronic
component distribution sector.
